The Political Reform Act of 1974 was established to ensure public employees and officials act in a manner that is fair and unbiased regarding their decision making and established the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC). The FPPC is responsible for effective administration of the Act. As a result, public employees and officials are required to report certain payments or gifts received and are subject to restrictions related to gifts, honoraria, travel, payments, and loans in general, using FPPC forms 801 and 802.
