Utility Users Tax (UUT)
The City of Chico Finance Office will be accepting applications between May 1, 2025 and June 30, 2025 for the annual Utility Users Tax (UUT) Refund Program. The Refund Program offers low-income rate payers a refund on taxes paid for gas, electric, water and telecommunications services paid between May 1, 2024 and April 30, 2025. Income eligibility requirements for the program are determined by the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s low-income guidelines. Applicants are eligible if their combined annual income of the household in which the applicant lives for the 2024 Federal and State Personal Income Tax Year was less than the maximum annual income limits listed in the schedule below.

If unable to access the application through the City’s website, the public can obtain a copy of the document at the City of Chico Finance Office, located on the 1st floor of City Hall, 411 Main Street. The Finance Office hours are:
· Monday and Wednesday – 8:30am – 4:30pm, closed 12:00pm-1:00pm for lunch,
· Tuesday and Thursday – 8:30am – 12:00pm, open by appointment only 1:00pm – 4:30pm.
Applications may be returned by email to FrontCounter@chicoca.gov, or by utilizing the Payment Drop Box located in the Municipal Building Parking Lot, or in person by appointment. Appointments can be scheduled by calling (530) 879-7320. Please allow up to six weeks for processing.
