Title 18 Subdivisions
In September 2023, the City Council adopted an Ordinance repealing Title 18 and replacing it with the Comprehensive Chico Municipal Code Title 18 Subdivision Ordinance Update.
 
Subdivision is used to subdivide property into five or more parcels or lots.

Parcel Map
Parcel Map is a land division that is typically used to subdivide one existing parcel into two, three or four parcels, where public improvements are required.
 
Minor Land Division is technically a "Parcel Map Waiver" and is used to subdivide improved parcels into two, three or four parcels, where public improvements are not required.

Lot Line Adjustment
Lot Line Adjustment is used to move the boundary lines between four or fewer parcels, sometimes to take area from one parcel and add it to another, and sometimes to simply change the shape of the parcels.
A Lot (Parcel) Merger is used to combine one or more parcels.

Certificate of Compliance
A Certificate of Compliance is used to recognize existing parcels as legal parcels.
URBAN LOT SPLIT
An Urban Lot Split is used to split one parcel located in a single-family zone into two roughly equal parcels.
