During the Park Fire, our firefighters worked tirelessly to contain the blaze, secure the park, protect homes, and ensure the safety of Chico residents all while also protecting and responding to city residents emergencies unrelated to the Park Fire. Similarly, the swift response to the Bidwell Mansion fire on Dec. 11th showcased the expertise and determination of our firefighters, code enforcement officers, and fire investigation team. Their exceptional effort led to the identification of a suspect responsible for the Bidwell Mansion fire, and is a testament to their pursuit of justice and safety of our community. City of Chico Mayor Kasey Reynolds comments regarding the tragic Bidwell Mansion fire:
“Last night’s fire at the Bidwell Mansion is a devastating loss for Chico. Our firefighters, whether on duty or off, gave their all in the face of this fire. Chico Fire Department coordinated with Chico Police Department, Cal Fire, CSUC PD, State Parks, Butte EMS, Chico Public Works, PGE, and Cal Water on the response to the incident. California State Parks has primary jurisdiction for the incident, and we are coordinating efforts with them. The City of Chico Fire Marshall is working directly with State Parks and state investigators to determine the cause of the fire. As we recover from the loss of our iconic Bidwell Mansion, we’ll continue to rely on the strength of our community to move forward.”
