Assembly Bill 413 prohibits the stopping, standing, or parking of a vehicle within 20 feet of the vehicle approach side of any unmarked or marked crosswalk or 15 feet of any crosswalk where a curb extension is present. It’s a simple change that saves lives. By keeping cars from parking too close to intersections, we make it easier for drivers to see people stepping into the street—and for those on foot to see approaching vehicles. Research shows daylighting significantly reduces crashes, especially involving children, seniors, and people with limited mobility.
