The proposed Project consists of improvements along approximately 2.15 miles of E. Eaton Road between E. Lassen Avenue and Wildwood Park. The Project will widen E. Eaton Road to four lanes between Ceanothus Avenue and Wildwood Park, including buffered bike lanes and curb, gutter, and sidewalk, and allow for connection with Wildwood Park. Specific improvements include:
- A new eastbound lane with bike lane will be constructed from Ceanothus Avenue to Lance Terrace
- A new westbound lane with bike lane, median, and sidewalk will be constructed from Lane Terrace to Wildwood Park.
- Pavement surface treatments between E. Lassen Avenue and Floral Avenue
- Pavement delineation and markings for updated lane configurations along the corridor
- At least 4 new traffic signals at the following intersection along E. Eaton Road: E. Lassen Avenue, Mariposa Avenue, Ceanothus Avenue, and Marigold Avenue
The proposed Project is needed to improve access for development north of E. Eaton Road to Chico's street system, relieve traffic stress on other parallel arterials, and provide important links in the City's Class II bikeway system. The Project will be constructed in existing public right-of-way.
