Chico Animal Shelter Waives Adoption Fees for the month of February
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: January 31, 2025
Date: January 31, 2025
CHICO, CA – Throughout the month of February, the Chico Animal Shelter is waiving adoption fees to help find loving homes for pets in need. This initiative aims to alleviate overcrowding at the shelter and give more animals a chance at finding a forever home.

The waived fee includes spay/neuter surgery, current vaccinations, Feline Leukemia Virus testing for cats or heartworm testing for dogs, and a one-year licensing fee (for Chico residents).
To further support pet owners, the shelter offers free pet ID tags for Chico residents and microchipping services to help families reunite with lost pets more quickly.
With a rise in animal intakes over the past year, the shelter also encourages fostering as a meaningful way to support shelter pets. Foster volunteers provide temporary care, easing the burden on staff and giving animals a break from the shelter environment.
The fee waiver runs from February 1 through February 28, 2025. The standard adoption process applies. To view adoptable pets or request a free pet ID tag, visit the shelter's website at www.chicoanimalshelter.org, or visit the shelter during open adoption walk-through hours, Monday-Thursday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. For additional information or questions, contact the shelter at (530) 894-5630.
