Chico, CA – On 01-06-2020 at about 1043 hours, the Chico Police Department received a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred at Wells Fargo Bank, located at 954 East Ave. The male suspect was reported to have left the bank and was last seen running eastbound on East Ave. The first officer on scene, arrived within two minutes of the report. Multiple other officers responded to the scene and contacted numerous bank employees and customers.
Officers learned that the male suspect entered the bank, armed with a handgun and demanded cash from multiple bank tellers. The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of money and fled the bank. Nobody was physically injured during the robbery.
The suspect was described as a male adult (unknown race), medium build, wearing a dark colored jacket, black ball cap, dark pants, sunglasses and wearing a mask.

During the course of this investigation, Chico Police received critical information about the suspect and his vehicle from witnesses in the area just after the robbery occurred. Using this information, detectives were able to locate surveillance video from neighboring businesses that caught the suspect vehicle fleeing the area. A witness was also able to provide a partial license plate number to the vehicle. This information was provided to patrol officers and the vehicle was later located within the City of Chico.
Detectives then started to conduct an investigation into the registered owner of the vehicle who was identified as Kevin Miers. On 01-09-2020, after multiple search warrants were served at two different locations, Kevin Miers was contacted and arrested for the armed bank robbery that occurred at Wells Fargo on 01-06-2020. Evidence recovered during the search warrants, in addition to the information collected from the witnesses assisted the detectives with developing probable cause to arrest Miers for the robbery. Without the assistance from the initial witnesses this case might have went unsolved. In addition to the mentioned witnesses, Chico Police Detectives would like to thank the Oroville Police Department for their assistance with this investigation.
Miers was arrested for a single count of robbery and is currently at Butte County Jail.
