Vehicle Stop Yields a Firearm and Arrests

Chico, CA –  On 1/16/20 at about 7:45 pm, Officers with the Chico Police Department’s Street Crimes D Unit were about to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Pillsbury Rd. and East Ave.  However, as the vehicle pulled into the Taco Bell drive thru, Officers learned the vehicle had been reported stolen.  Assisting Officers responded to the area, boxed the driver in, and proceeded to order the occupants out of the car. 

Officers conducted an investigation into the theft and the involvement of the vehicle’s two occupants.  During this investigation, Officers uncovered methamphetamine inside the vehicle and a loaded rifle.

At the conclusion of their investigation Officers arrested the driver, John BAKER as he is a convicted felon and could not possess the rifle.  The passenger, Brittney BELL, was charged with possession of a controlled substance.  Both were booked into Butte County Jail.
