Two Trailer Thieves is Too Many

Case# 22-004127

Post

On 7/6/22, Chico Police Violence Suppression Unit (VSU) and Chico Police Detective Bureau responded to the 3000 Block of Esplanade to serve a search warrant. VSU Detectives authored a search warrant for a building, looking for evidence that a convicted felon may be in possession of firearms and ammunition. Detectives served the warrant and detained the subject that was suspected of possessing the firearm, Glenn Anthony Ellis (49 yrs old). After a search of the listed addresses, Detectives discovered firearms and ammunition. Ellis was arrested.

Detectives also discovered a stolen trailer stowed out of view of the public between the fence line and the business. The trailer was stolen on 6/22/22 or 6/23/22 and possessed approx. $5000.00 worth of doors (Chico Police Case #22-003872). A search of the Ellis’ building resulted in the discovery of these doors. Detectives learned that Ellis may have attempted to sell these doors using Craig’s List several days prior. All stolen property was released to the victims. Ellis is the second subject to be arrested by Chico Police Detectives for stealing a trailer in one week. David Wayne Jones (52 years old) was arrested on 6/28/22 for the theft of (4) trailers in Butte County.

Ellis was arrested for 10851 CVC (Vehicle Theft), 496(d) PC (Receiving a stolen vehicle), 496(a) PC (Possession of Stolen Property), 29800(a)(1) PC (Felon in Possession of a Firearm), 30305(a)(1) (Felon in possession of ammunition). He was later transported to Butte County Jail.
