On June 18, 2021, at about 10:00 p.m., a Chico Police Officer was on a routine patrol in the downtown Chico area. The officer stopped his vehicle and spoke with 56-year-old Stoney King in the parking lot of Arco Gas, 110 W. 9th Street.
A record’s check showed King was on Mandatory Supervision for prior narcotics related convictions. Mandatory Supervision is similar to probation, in that it allows law enforcement to search offenders to ensure they are abiding by rules imposed by the Superior Court. The officer searched King and his nearby vehicle and did not find any contraband. King claimed to be homeless in the Chico area. However, through investigation officers determined King resided at a home on the 1000 block of East Avenue.
Officers traveled to the home and conducted a compliance search
of the residence. In the home officers recovered approximately
6.1 grams of heroin, 1.9 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and
additional items related to the sales of narcotics.
King was arrested for violations of sections 11378 H&S- Possession for Sale of Methamphetamine, 11351 H&S- Possession for Sale of Heroin, and 1203.2(a) PC- Violation of Mandatory Supervision. King was booked into the Butte County Jail.
