Suspect Arrested for Animal Abuse

On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, around 10:20 a.m., Chico Police Officers and Animal Control responded to the 1000 block of E 8th Street for a report of animal abuse. A caller notified the CPD dispatch center that they had just seen someone striking a dog with a skateboard.

Officers arrived in the area and located the suspect, 42-year-old Fredrick Eder, and the dog. It was determined that the dog was injured. The dog was taken to a local veterinary clinic and cleared to be transferred to the Chico Animal Shelter where it currently remains.

Officers arrested Eder for felony animal abuse.
