The Chico Police Department will conduct a sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint on Friday, April 29th , 2022 at Esplanade and 11th Avenue. It will begin at 9pm and will run for approximately 4 1/2 hours. Traffic flowing through the checkpoint will be contacted by uniformed officers, who will be checking for alcohol and/or drugimpaired drivers. The purpose of the checkpoint is to promote public safety; increase awareness of the dangers associated with drinking and driving and serves as a deterrent to potential impaired and unlicensed drivers. Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Highway Patrol. Please direct any inquiries to Sergeant Todd Lefkowitz at (530) 897-4974. Media is encouraged to attend the checkpoint in an effort to spread awareness about the impacts of drinking and driving.
