Short Pursuit Leads to an Arrest

Case # 22-007394

Post

A short pursuit early Wednesday leads to the arrest of 35-year-old Ryan Rash.

On November 30, around 12:25 a.m., a Chico Police Officer was driving southbound on SR 99 when he noticed a vehicle displaying suspicious driving habits.

The officer followed the vehicle, driven by Rash, as it exited at E. 20th Street, towing a flatbed trailer with one inoperable brake light.

The officer attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop just east of E. 20th St. and Forest Ave., but Rash did not stop. Rash continued to drive at the posted speed limit but failed to yield.

The pursuit ended at the end of Sterling Ct. when the driver attempted to drive onto the pedestrian/bike path, hitting the metal bollard in the center.

After multiple attempts, officers were able to get Rash to exit the vehicle, and he was arrested without further incident.

During the investigation, it was discovered that the flatbed trailer being towed by Rash was stolen.

Rash was arrested on the following charges:
