On 4/13/21, at approximately 7:15 PM, Chico Police Officers were dispatched to a shoplift that had just occurred at BevMo (1937 E. 20th Street, Chico, CA). The suspects fled the scene in an SUV and were last seen on W. 20th Street towards Hwy 99. A short time later, Officers located the vehicle matching the description traveling southbound on Hwy 99. Due to the previous information received from a local law enforcement agency, a high risk traffic stop was conducted on Hwy 99 stopping southbound traffic. Three occupants, later identified as Joseph HUSTON, age 24, Marshuata DANIELS, age 25, and Terkashas MCCLAIN, age 23 (all residents of the Sacramento area) were contacted in the vehicle and detained without incident. Inside the vehicle several items of evidence relating to the shoplift were located. All three occupants were arrested.
During the investigation, Officers learned the suspects traveled from Sacramento to different cities with the intent to steal alcohol from retail locations. After the thefts, the suspects were going to return to Sacramento and sell the alcohol. Approximately 100 bottles of different types of alcohol were recovered.
