Shooting Update – Juvenile Suspect Arrested

**********UPDATE 06/17/2020********* The suspect in this shooting was arrested this morning by Chico Police Officers and Detectives. After a lengthy investigation the suspect was identified as a 17-year-old male juvenile from Chico, CA. During his arrest the juvenile was found to be in possession of an illegal AR platform pistol. The suspect was booked into Butte County Juvenile Hall on attempted murder and weapons charges.
The investigation determined that the suspect and victim did not know each other and there was no motive to the shooting. The victim remains in serious but stable condition in a local hospital.
Original Press Release – On May 13th, 2020 at approximately 5:28
pm, Chico Police Dispatch began receiving numerous 911 calls
regarding gun shots being heard in the area of Rio Lindo Ave.
Chico Police units arrived within moments and found a victim
lying on the bike path with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim
was transported to Enloe Hospital with life threatening injuries.
Witnesses in the area saw a black male adult running from the
area just after the shots were heard. He was described as wearing
a gray hooded sweatshirt, and black sweatpants. Detectives were
called out to the scene and are actively investigating the
incident.
