Shooting /UPDATE: 11-20-21 Suspect Arrested

On October 27, 2021, at 10:07 PM, the Chico Police Department began receiving calls of a shooting that had just occurred at the gas station located at the intersection of Longfellow Ave and E. 1st Ave.
Several Chico Police Officers responded to the scene and began the investigation. At this time, we believe an altercation between two individuals resulted in one shooting the other. The victim of the shooting has suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Detectives from the Violence Suppression Unit (VSU), a K9 unit, and Unmanned Aerial System Unit (UAS) all responded to assist in the investigation.

UPDATE -Suspect in Custody
The Chico Police Department Violence Suppression Unit (VSU) identified RAUL DANIEL LINAREZ (34) of Chico, as the suspect in the shooting that occurred at the Mobil Gas Station on October 27, 2021. The motive for the crime was determined to be likely gang-related.
On Saturday, November 20, 2021, at approximately 12:20 PM, detectives with the Chico Police Department Violence Suppression Unit (VSU) attempted to serve LINAREZ with an arrest warrant for attempted murder. LINAREZ fled in his vehicle from the 1300 block of East Avenue to the 1300 block of Arch Way. He then fled from his vehicle and was captured by detectives at the conclusion of a foot pursuit. LINAREZ was arrested for the following crimes:
Penal Code Violation 664/187: Attempted murder
Penal Code Violation 29800: Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon Penal Code Violation 148(a)(1): Obstructing/delaying a Peace Officer
Vehicle Code Violation 2800.1: Fleeing/Evading a Peace Officer’s Motor Vehicle
