Shooting Suspect Arrested for 7th Street Party Incident

Case # 23-002840

Post

On 5/6/23 at approximately 12:07 AM, Chico Police Officers were sent to the 700 block of W. 7th Street, Chico, for a report of a shooting. As Officers were arriving on scene, they learned that the suspects had fled the area. Officers learned that several subjects had been attempting to enter a house party. When residents did not allow the subject to enter the party, the subject struck one of the victims on the head with a handgun. As several subjects attempted to defend their friend from further assault, another suspect fired several shots from a handgun into the air, dispersing the partygoers.

Chico Police Officers later responded to the 1000 block of Columbus Avenue for a report of a brandishing. They contacted Jeffery Anderson (24 yrs). Anderson was in possession of a handgun. Anderson was arrested for 25400 PC: Carrying a Concealed Weapon Without a Permit. Astute Officers recognized that Anderson matched the description of one of the suspects from the earlier 7th Street Incident. Unfortunately, Anderson was released from Butte County Jail prior to essential follow-up that linked him to the earlier shooting.

On 5/12/23, Violence Suppression Unit Detectives contacted and arrested Anderson. Anderson was later transported to Butte County Jail for 245(a)(1) PC: Assault with a Deadly Weapon. If you have any information regarding the second suspect, please contact Chico Police at (530)897-5820.
