Shooting outside of Warming Center
Case# 21-000720
On February 5th, 2021 at approximately 1:40 a.m. a security guard
working at the City of Chico warming center, was standing outside
when he saw several subjects on the opposite side of the street,
get into a vehicle that appeared to arrive for the purpose of
picking them up. As the 3 or 4 subjects entered the vehicle, one
subject, for unknown reasons, pulled out a semi auto handgun and
fired the weapon twice into the air. The suspect then got into
the passenger area of the vehicle and all left northbound on
Cedar St. toward W. 3rd St. The security guard/witness said the
suspect did not point the weapon at anyone, did not make eye
contact with anyone, nor did he say anything to anyone. The guard
described the suspect as a black
male adult, between 20-25 years old, wearing a dark beanie and
white hooded sweatshirt. The guard described the vehicle as a
4dr, dark colored compact vehicle.
Officers arrived in the area shortly after the shooting and
conducted an extensive area check for the suspect/suspect
vehicle. Two spent shell casings were recovered in the street and
collected for evidence. Currently there are no leads into the
identity of the suspect and or location of the vehicle.
Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to
contact the Chico Police Department.
