Shooting and Stabbing
Case# 20-003315
On 6/21/20 just before 11:00pm, the Chico Police Department began receiving multiple 911 calls regarding a shooting that had occurred on the 1900 block of Locust St., Chico. Information came in informing us that at least one person had also been stabbed and was possibly headed to Enloe Medical Center. Officers responded to both locations to assist in the investigation.
When Officers arrived on Locust, they could hear what appeared to
be an argument in a small apartment complex on Locust St.
Officers found blood in the parking lot and where yet unsure as
to where the victims were or if there were any other victims in
the complex. Some residents came out and were initially
uncooperative with Officers resulting in their detention. This
incident and another incident across town resulted in all Chico
Police Patrol Officers committed. Rendering the situation, on
Locust St., safe required the assistance of the Butte County
Sheriff’s Office, the Chico State University Police and the
California Highway Patrol.
Once the scene was made safe, residents and involved parties
where interviewed and a Chico PD Crime Scene Investigator
processed the scene for evidence. Based on the investigation thus
far, it appears a group confronted some residents and a fight
ensued. During that confrontation two people were stabbed and
someone shot off several gunshots. At the time of this press
release, the victims were hospitalized with non-life-threatening
injuries.
This is an active investigation, anyone with information is asked to contact the Chico Police Department 530-897-4900 and reference case #20-003315.
