Shooting

Case# 20-005387

Post

On 10/03/20 just after 3:00 pm, the Chico Police Department received several 911 calls regarding a shooting that had just occurred outside of the Fair St. Market, located at E. 20th St. and Fair St. Chico, CA.  At least two vehicles left the scene immediately after the shooting.

Patrol Officers converged on the scene.  A responding Officer observed a dark colored pickup truck, with bullet holes, traveling out of the area.  The vehicle was pulled over in the area of Salem St. and W.11th St.  Violence Suppression Unit Detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation.  It was determined that this vehicle had indeed been fleeing the scene of the shooting and had been struck by gunfire. At this point in the investigation it appears these people might have been part of a group that was targeted by the shooter.  Two of the three occupants were eventually arrested for violations of Parole and Probation.

As this was occurring, a male walked into the emergency room of a local hospital; the male was determined to have also been at the Fair St. Market. and was suffering from a non-life threating gunshot wound.

The other vehicle leaving the scene was reported to be a light-colored Import sedan; possibly occupied by the suspected shooter.

At this stage in the investigation, it appears that this is a gang related shooting.  Detectives have received limited information and are asking anyone with information to call the Chico Police Department at 530-897-4911 and ask for VSU Detective Alex Fliehr, please reference Case #20-005387.
