Sexual Assault

Over the past couple of weeks, the Chico Police Department has been investigating allegations against a teacher who works at a school in the Chico Unified School District. A former student of the teacher reported that she was a victim of on-going sexual abuse while she was attending the school. Based off information obtained during the investigation, detectives from the Chico Police Department contacted the
teacher, Jennifer Smith, and arrested her after an arrest warrant was issued for multiple counts of sexual assault. This is still an on-going investigation and no further information will be provided at this time. During this investigation, detectives obtained information that there might be other people who have information about these allegations or other incidents involving Jennifer Smith. We are asking anyone who might have information that could assist us with this investigation to contact the Chico Police Detective Bureau at (530)897-5820. Smith was booked at Chico PD and transported to Butte County Jail on several counts of sexually assaulting a minor.
