School Trespass

Case # 23-006716

Post

On October 6, 2023, at 12:42 p.m., The Chico Police Department received a call from an employee of Chico Junior High School stating there was an irate parent at the school trying to get into the school to confront a teacher. The man, later identified as Sammy Earl Anderson Jr., had entered the school grounds illegally and walked toward the room of a teacher he wanted to confront.

Officers were dispatched to this call with a priority response. Information was vague, and they did not know if Anderson was armed. When they arrived, they located Anderson outside in a common area, still irate. Upon seeing the officers, Anderson fled, running away from them. When they caught Anderson, he continued to fight and resist. Multiple officers were summoned to the scene to assist in detaining Anderson. Anderson continued to be combative, attempting to kick officers several times.

Anderson was arrested for the following crimes: 626.8 PC: Trespass on school grounds while causing a disturbance 69 PC: Resist arrest by means of threat or violence 148(a)(1) PC: Resist, obstruct or delay an officer.

Both Anderson and one officer sustained minor injuries during this incident. Anderson was medically cleared at Enloe Medical Center prior to being transported to the Butte County Jail for booking.

This incident is still being aggressively investigated, including the reason Anderson confronted the teacher. If anyone has information that may assist officers in this investigation, they are asked to call the Chico Police Department at (530) 897-4900 and reference case number 23-006716.
