Scam Alert – PG&E

Our Public Safety Police and Fire Dispatch Center is recently receiving many calls from older adults about people (a scammer) calling them and posing as PG&E. The scammer claims to represent PG&E and that they are “converting to a new system due to COVID-19.” The victim is asked to make a payment over the phone or through money order, one suspect even offered to meet a victim at 7-11 to take payment. These scammers are often very convincing and anyone can fall victim to their lies and scam. We would like to ask you to talk with the older (and younger) people in your life and share the truth about these scams. Please be alert and leery of anyone asking for money associated with COVID-19.
