Public Works Engineering Department Deputy Director Awarded Professional Manager of the Year
Congratulations to David Giongco, who was awarded the American Public Works Association Professional Manager of the Year in Transportation!
David joined the Chico Public Works team in August 2020 because he was drawn by the types of projects the Engineering Department is involved with and how they affect our Chico community. The hallmark traits of the department, in his words, are “strong leadership, innovation, and teamwork.”
Before joining the City of Chico, David was employed by Caltrans HQ, working for both District 3 and CalTrans headquarters, where he was involved in design, construction, maintenance engineering, and assisting local cities and counties with securing state funding for project completion. In addition, he was a Captain in the United States Air Force, serving as a Civil Engineer Officer at Vandenberg Air Force Base, and was also the first officer in his family, having joined the Air Force after completing the ROTC program in college.
