Pet Food Bank for Chico Residents

Post

Date: 03-26-20
Chico, CA – Although the Chico Animal Shelter is closed to the general public, staff is still working behind the scene to reunite lost pets and care for stray animals at the shelter. Our Staff realizes this is a very challenging time for many people, and that the current pandemic is affecting both people and their pets. The Chico Animal Shelter has created a food pantry to help people in our community keep their pets at home and not have to surrender them to the shelter during these uncertain times.

If you are a City of Chico resident and have been laid off or are staying at home due to age or illness because of the pandemic, please contact the Shelter during regular business hours to learn more about our pet food pantry. Pet owners will be placed on a delivery list and volunteers will do porch drops the following day.

Friends of the Chico Animal Shelter (FOCAS) will be helping to offset the cost of food, but the Chico Animal Shelter is also accepting donations of non-expired pet food in their original containers for the pantry.
For more information about the Chico Animal Shelter, please visit our website at www.chicoanimalshelter.org, where you can get many of your questions answered, search for lost pets, or purchase a dog license. The City of Chico Animal Services staff would like to thank the public for their understanding and cooperation in helping us do our part to keep our community safe and healthy.
