Pedestrian Struck by Train

Case#20-005127

Post

On September 20, 2020, at approximately 4:50 AM, a pedestrian attempted to cross the railroad tracks on W. Sacramento Avenue just before a Union Pacific train passed through.  A witness advised that the crossing arms, bells and lights were functioning.   The subject was unsuccessful, and a CPD officer located him lying on the roadway just west of the railway.  The subject was conscious, but seriously injured.  CFD, EMS, and additional CPD officers responded to administer aid, block W. Sacramento Avenue, and secure the scene for evidence.  The subject was transported by EMS to an area hospital for treatment.  Officers finished processing the scene at approximately 0600 hours and release W. Sacramento Avenue to normal traffic.

The involved subject did not have identification in his possession, and he has yet to be identified.  Officers described him as a white male adult with a thin build.  The subject had brown hair and wore a short beard.  He appeared to be approximately 20-25 years old, and was clothed in a black T-shirt, a black belt, blue jeans, black socks, and gray and white Adidas shoes.

Anyone who believes they may be able to identify the injured subject is asked to contact the Chico Police Department at (530) 897-4911.
