Package Thief Arrested

On 12/22/21, Chico Police Dispatch received a call for service regarding a possible theft that just occurred. The reporting party informed Dispatch that he witnessed an unknown subject take a delivered package from the neighbor’s residence. A description of the subject was provided with a direction of travel. While officers were enroute, the subject discarded the package in another yard. Chico Police Officers responded to the scene and located a subject, later identified as Rebecca HAMBURG, age 31, who matched the description.

While with HAMBURG, officers investigated and confirmed the delivered package was stolen from the 1200th block of Howard Drive. Ultimately, HAMBURG was arrested for mail theft and later transported to the Butte County Jail.

Chico Police Department would like to thank the reporting party who called the suspicious activity. With the assistance of the reporting party, the delivered package was returned to the rightful owner, who was happy because the package contained gifts for the whole family.
