On May 17, 2021, at about 2:29 a.m., staff from the Double Tree
by Hilton, 685 Manzanita Court, called 911. Staff advised Sequoia
Daub (age 23) had previously threatened to stab hotel staff and
was refusing to leave the property.
A Chico Police Officer arrived on scene and located Daub outside on the hotel property. The officer attempted to speak with Daub, but Daub ran away from the officer. The officer chased Daub and caught up with her in the intersection of Cohasset Road and Mangrove Avenue.
The officer attempted to detain Daub, but Daub physically resisted. Daub ripped part of the radio from the officer’s uniform and pulled the officer’s hair. Daub attempted to gouge the officer’s eye but ended up shoving her thumb inside the officer’s mouth. Daub bit the officer on the arm and continued to pull her hair. The officer kept trying to detain Daub, but she continued to resist. Additional officers arrived on scene and Daub was finally able to be placed in handcuffs.
The Chico Police Officer sustained abrasions and bruising as a
result of the assault, but she was able to complete the remainder
of her shift.
Daub was medically cleared for incarceration. She was booked into the Butte County Jail for violations of sections 243(c)(2) PC-Assault on a Police Officer Causing Injury, and 69 PC-Resisting an Executive Officer.
