National Night Out 2022
Type of event: National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022, from 6pm-9 pm.
The Chico Police Department is announcing National Night Out, which will be taking place Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
National Night Out events represent several
opportunities:
- It allows Chico Police to heighten awareness of crime and crime prevention in our city.
- It allows Chico Police to encourage and be a part of strengthening neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
- The community symbolically sends a message to criminals, letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back against crime.
- It allows us, most specifically, to communicate the message that we (the Police Department) can’t do it all and to encourage our citizenry to consciously be a part of helping to keep our community safe.
Traditionally, neighborhoods plan events during the evening hours on National Night Out. Some neighborhoods have planned large-scale events with bounce houses, games and displays. Other neighborhoods plan more informal events, which can be as simple as joining with neighbors on a front lawn to share a cold treat or having a block party and BBQ. If you are planning a Nation Night Out neighborhood event and would like a representative from the Chico Police Department to stop by to visit and answer questions, please call Crime Prevention Officer Ed Nelson at 897-4942 to register your event.
