Multiple Burglary Suspects Arrested in Chico


On the morning of Sunday, 05/30/21, the Chico Police Department received reports of multiple residential burglaries in northeast Chico and in the south campus neighborhood near CSU Chico.

Arrest #1:
The suspect in the northeast burglaries utilized garage door remotes stolen from vehicles parked in front of residences to enter the residences through the garage. A security camera at a victim residence in the 3000 block of Rae Creek Drive recorded a suspect, identified by investigating officers from prior arrests as MICHAEL BORDEN (31), stealing a mountain bike with an estimated value of $10,000.
At approximately 10:45 AM, the investigating officer located BORDEN riding the stolen bicycle near Motel 6 on Manzanita Court. After a vehicle and foot pursuit, BORDEN was arrested without incident in Lindo Channel near North Avenue.

Arrest #2:
At approximately 8:20 AM, the Chico Police Department received a report of a burglary and attempted theft of a motor vehicle in the 800 block of W. 4th Street, Chico. The resident reported he had returned home to find his residence burglarized and an unknown suspect with a glass methamphetamine smoking pipe attempting to steal his Camaro from in front of his residence. Prior to the burglary, the resident had removed the vehicle’s spark plugs for routine vehicle maintenance. The suspect, later identified as GLENN ELLIS (48), fled from the vehicle on foot with the resident pursuing him. The resident provided an accurate location as to where the suspect fled. Officers located ELLIS in the backyard of a residence in the 800 block of Ivy Street and arrested him without incident. Several other residents on W. 4th Street reported vehicle tampering and theft from their vehicles.
