Man Arrested after Causing Multi-Vehicle Collision

On 4/17/2021, at 1:40 p.m. a multiple vehicle collision was reported near Skyway and Bruce Road. Multiple callers stated the driver of a white Honda Accord collided with three separate vehicles near the intersection. Chico Police later learned the vehicle was also involved in a collision moments earlier on Skyway prior to Honey Run Road. Citizens reported the driver of the white Honda, later identified as Craig Campbell, fled the scene of both collisions with heavy front-end damage to his vehicle and with the driver side airbag deployed. Chico Police communications received multiple emergency calls during the incident and were able to obtain the vehicles license plate number. Believing the driver might be attempting to return to his residence, Officers went to the residence where the car was registered. Officers arrived at the home at the same time the vehicle, being driven by Campbell, returned home. After Campbell was medically cleared, he was arrested for suspicion of DUI and leaving the scene of a traffic collision.

Campbell was booked in the Butte County Jail for the violation of 23152 CVC and 20002 CVC; Driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a traffic collision.
