Major Vehicle Accident in the Area of Forest Avenue near Amanda Way

On February 19, 2020 at approximately 4:11pm Chico Police Dispatch started receiving calls concerning a major collision in the area of Forest Avenue near Amada Way. Reports indicated a vehicle was traveling on the wrong side of Forest Avenue just prior to the collision. Upon arrival of Officers, it was determined there were three vehicles and a motorcyclist involved in the collision. It was also determined the motorcyclist sustained major injuries and was transported to an area hospital for life saving medical attention. The motorcyclist died at the hospital from injuries sustained during the collision. The drivers of the three remaining vehicles sustained minor injuries. The wrong way driver was determined to be an elderly citizen who potentially had a medical condition while operating a motor vehicle, subsequently, causing the collision. The at-fault driver is fully cooperating with Chico Police Traffic Investigators. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision. The driver of the motorcycle has been identified as a Chico resident, Timothy Sonnenburg (66).
