Chico, CA – On 2/23/20, just before midnight, Chico Police responded to assist a CHP Officer who had conducted a traffic enforcement stop on the Highway 99 off ramp at East Avenue in Chico. The driver of the vehicle had been detained by CHP prior to CPD’s arrival. Chico PD officers assisted by trying to identify a male passenger. The male provided a false name but officers soon realized he was being dishonest. The passenger locked the doors and jumped into the driver seat and fled the scene in the vehicle.
Chico Police Officers pursued the vehicle southbound on Highway 99 to the E. 1st Avenue exit. The driver drove eastbound on E. 1st Avenue with willful and wanton disregard for the safety of the public by extreme speed and failing to stop at red lights. For this reason, pursuing Chico Officers backed off. The driver of the vehicle escaped apprehension but, through investigation, was identified as 27 year-old Alex Cole Bundlie (see attached photo) of Paradise. He was found to have felony warrants for his arrest out of Paradise PD and the Butte County Sheriff’s Office. Bundlie is also arrestable for felony evasion by Chico PD as a result of his extreme recklessness and carelessness for the safety of the community and the officers.
Anyone with information related to Bundlie’s whereabouts is encouraged to call Chico Police at 530 897 4911. Bundlie, himself, is strongly encouraged to call CPD to turn himself in in this case and take care of his outstanding criminal matters.
