Halloween 2023

Post

The Chico Police Department prepared for the 2023 Halloween weekend by once again increasing the police presence, particularly in the south campus, the “avenues” neighborhood, and the downtown area. Historically, this weekend is filled with large crowds, large parties, and out-of-town partygoers. To ensure uninterrupted service to the rest of the city, extra Chico Police Officers were required to work during the Halloween operational period that began Saturday, October 28th at 4 p.m. and went until Sunday, October 29th at 2 a.m.

During the above operational period, Chico Police Officers took the following enforcement actions:

  • 21 Citations
  • 8 Misdemeanor arrests
  • 4 Felony arrests
  • 5 DUI arrests
  • 3 MIP/Open Container Citations

Overall, this Halloween period is in line with the current trend of much lower activity and arrests. This trend is a marked difference from previous years of activity associated with Halloween.

Event Commander: Lieutenant Jeff Durkin
