Halloween 2022

Post

The Chico Police Department prepared for the 2022 Halloween weekend by once again increasing Police presence, particularly in the south campus and “Avenues” neighborhoods, popular as student housing. Historically, this weekend is filled with large crowds, large parties, and out-of-town partygoers. To ensure uninterrupted service to the rest of the city, off-duty Chico Police Officers were required to work during the Halloween operational period that covered Friday, October 28 at 6 pm through Tuesday, November 1 at 1 am.

Chico Police Officers were assisted by the CSU Chico Police Department, California Highway Patrol, and California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control agents.

Chico Police Officers took the following enforcement throughout the city during the operational period:

• 35 Citations

• 13 Minor in Possession/Open Container arrests

• 24 Misdemeanor arrests

• 6 Felony arrests

• 10 DUI arrests

Overall, this Halloween period is in line with a current trend of much lower activity and arrests; a marked difference from years past.

Event Commander: Lieutenant Mike Rodden

The Chico Police Department is committed to ensuring our community is a safe place to live, work, and recreate within!
