Fatal Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Collision

On October 5th , 2022 at about 0752 hours, Chico Police Dispatch received several 911 calls regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian collision on Bruce Road at California Park Dr. Emergency personnel arrived on scene and found a pedestrian on the ground not breathing. Lifesaving efforts were performed but the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries. Several witnesses were contacted at scene and provided detailed statements. The female jogger had been on a run when she attempted to cross Bruce Rd. against a red signal. The vehicle was traveling northbound Bruce Rd. on a green light when the collision occurred. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. It did not appear that alcohol/drugs nor speed, played a factor in this collision. The pedestrian was positively identified as 76-yr old, Judith Girimonte of Chico. Charges will not be requested against the driver in this incident.
