Fatal Traffic Collision / Road Closure at W. 8th St. & Broadway St.

The driver who was killed in Thursday’s early morning collision has been identified as Lenore Robertson, a 22 year old female from Chico. The two other female occupants of that vehicle, both adults, were taken to a local hospital where they were admitted for injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, a 24-yr old male from Chico and his female passenger were not injured. Both the driver of the other vehicle and the passengers in both vehicles have cooperated fully with the investigation.

Due to the severity of this collision, Chico Police Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the scene. During the investigation, evidence was obtained that revealed Robertson ran the red light that caused the collision. No charges will be filed against the driver of the other vehicle. Fatal Traffic Collision / Road Closure

At approximately 0500 hours, two vehicles collided at the intersection of W. 8th Street and Broadway Street in Chico. The driver of one vehicle was pronounced deceased, and two passengers were injured. The intersection has been closed by emergency personnel and will likely remain so for many hours.

Please advise the public to avoid traveling westbound on W. 8th Street near the intersections of Main and Broadway. Drivers are also asked to avoid traveling southbound on Broadway Street near W. 8th Street.
