Elderly Woman Found After Becoming Lost on Walk
Case# 21-000173
On 1/9/21, Chico Police Dispatch received a report of a missing
80-year-old woman, Flora Hodge. Hodge was a resident of a local
Care Facility. Employees discovered her missing after conducting
a routine check of the facility. Hodge had exited the facility
and began walking in the area alone. Due to Hodge’s age, time of
night, and the irregularity of the behavior, additional resources
were utilized. Chico Fire Department, Butte County Search and
Rescue, and Butte County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search
for Hodge. Chico Police Department utilized the Code Red Alert
System after initial attempts to locate Hodge were exhausted.
At approximately11:58 pm, residents in the area of E. 7th Street
and Alder Street reported a female matching Hodge’s description
pacing in front of their residence. Officers responded to the
area and located Hodge. Hodge was determined to be healthy and
unharmed. Hodge returned to her Care Facility.
I would like to thank all the assisting agencies involved, as well as the concerned citizens. Officers searching the areas observed numerous concerned citizens walking their neighborhoods with flashlights in search for Hodge. This unity of effort was very much appreciated.
