DUI Collision Arrest

On November 10th, 2023 at 4:19 p.m., the Chico Police Dispatch Center received multiple 911 calls of a vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of State Highway 32 and Bruce Road in East Chico. As Chico Fire, Butte County EMS, and Chico Police were en route to the collision, witnesses reported one of the vehicles was fleeing the scene, eastbound on Bruce Road. Witnesses then reported a man driving the fleeing vehicle, stopped approximately ½ mile from the crash and began to run away into a nearby field. Chico Police officers arrived and detained the fleeing man. He was identified as 35-year-old Adrian Flores and the driver of the vehicle which fled the crash scene. Flores was on active DUI probation for a prior DUI conviction.

The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to Enloe Medical Center by Butte County EMS.

Flores was arrested for Hit and Run causing injury (felony), DUI causing injury (felony) and violation of DUI probation.

The intersection of State Highway 32 and Bruce Road had controlled traffic for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes while officers investigated the collision. Chico PD VIPS (Volunteers In Police Service) assisted in controlling traffic during this incident.
