Domestic Dispute

On Wednesday, February 15, around 8:15 a.m., the Chico Police Dispatch center received a call regarding a domestic dispute between a male and female in the 800 block of W. 2nd Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers contacted the female outside the apartment complex and learned the male, 32-year-old Donald Griffin, and a child were inside the apartment.
All available resources were deployed, including the Chico Police Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), as officers attempted to safely get Griffin and the child out of the apartment.
Chico PD CNT negotiated with Griffin for about an hour before he released the child from the apartment. Negotiations continued for approximately fifty more minutes before he exited the apartment, and officers detained him.
Griffin was booked for false imprisonment, felony parole violation, restraining order violation, and misdemeanor domestic violence.
