Death in Public Right of Way

On June 18th, 2023, the Chico Police Department, Chico Fire and Butte Medics responded to a business in the 1100 block of Mangrove Avenue regarding an unconscious man behind a business at that location. Medics arrived and declared the man deceased. CPD Officers and the Butte County Coroner responded and initiated an investigation. The cause of death is, at this point, unknown, though there does not appear to be any signs of criminality.
