Death in a Public Right of Way

On June 22nd, 2022, at about 2334 hours, Chico Police received a report of a subject unresponsive inside of a parked vehicle in the Five Mile Recreation Area parking lot of Upper Bidwell Park. Chico Fire, responded and located the individual. Unfortunately, the subject was pronounced deceased on scene. Chico Police responded and conducted an investigation. The cause of death is unknown at this time, however, there were no indications of foul play or suspicious activity. The Butte County Sheriff’s responded and took over the death investigation. At this time, the decedent’s identity is withheld pending Next of Kin notification.
