Criminal Threats/Weapon Violations/Battery Investigation

On 10/29/21 at approximately 0914 hrs. CPD Dispatch received a phone call from an employee of a local business in the 2000 block of Dr. MLK Pkwy. that a subject was inside the business and chasing an employee with an axe. Several CPD Units responded Code-3 to the scene and discovered 38 year old Michael Creek being detained by several bystanders in front of the business. A subsequent investigation revealed that Creek was asked to leave the business by an employee. Creek was initially compliant, but then battered an employee and retrieved a concealed hand axe and brandished the weapon while threatening and challenging the victim. The weapon was recovered by officers and taken as evidence. The employee involved in the incident was uninjured.

Creek was arrested for the following crimes associated with the incident and transported to the Butte County Jail for booking;

21310 PC (Carrying a Concealed Weapon)

422 PC (Criminal Threats)

242 PC (Battery)

415(1) PC (Challenging Others to Fight)

11377(a) H&S (Possession of Methamphetamine)
11364(a) H&S (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia)

Location:  2000 Block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy.

Victim:  Withheld

Suspect:  Michael Creek, 38 year old Chico Resident.
