Commercial Burglary Suspects Arrested

On July 9th, 2021, at about 5:00 AM, Chico Police Officers were dispatched to a commercial burglary alarm at JC Penny inside the Chico Marketplace. Officer’s arrived at the Chico Marketplace and detained two adult male suspects, Wekin Tankul (Age 20) and Antonio Garza (Age 19), along with a Juvenile suspect, who were on the roof of the JC Penny building. All three suspects were arrested for attempted burglary of JC Penny.

Later the same day, at about 9:00 AM, Chico Police Officers were dispatched to TLC Affordable Fashion inside the Chico Marketplace for a commercial burglary. Officer’s arrived and during their investigation determined that the same three suspects had made entry into TLC Affordable Fashion and committed a commercial burglary.

Tankul and Garza were booked into custody at the Butte County Jail for violations of section 664 / 459 PC – attempted burglary and 459 PC – burglary. The Juvenile suspect was released with a citation to his guardian.
