Chico Police Uniform Change

Post

The Chico Police Department will begin celebrating our 150th Anniversary on April 4th, 2022. This will be the first Monday of April,  just as it was in 1872.

Law Enforcement is a very tradition-based profession, and we are very proud of the history within the Chico Police Department.  As time passes, police organizations change the way they operate and look in many ways.  We have decided to change the Chico Police Officers uniform in a very subtle but professional manner.  We want to ensure our community can immediately identify the patch of the Chico Police Department from those of our partnering agencies in the area.  Many of the different agency patches are multi-colored with yellow and blue as the dominate colors.  Effective immediately, you will notice the new Chico Police Department patch will focus on a clean and simple look to honor our 150th Anniversary.  Keeping in tradition, it will retain the same important images; American flag, State of California flag, Hooker Oak tree, and the Scales of Justice along with our name Chico Police.  Our Sergeant stripes and years of service hash marks will also change to the same color scheme.

Also, starting April 4th, we will begin wearing a very special commemorative badge representing the 150th Anniversary of the Chico Police Department.  These badges were purchased with funds sponsored by local community partners.  We will hold a special unveiling of the new badge during an awards ceremony on March 31, 2022 at 0900 hours.  We feel the new look is very professional and will provide the community with no doubt who the Officer represents; the Community of Chico where we strive to create a safe place to live, work, and recreate!
