Chico PD investigating Homicide

Expanding upon what was previously released, responding officers located a critically injured adult female and a seriously injured adult male when they arrived on scene.  First responders initiated lifesaving efforts, and both wounded subjects were transported to an area hospital for treatment.  Tragically, the female did not survive her injuries.

Detectives are continuing to investigate; however, they have established that the subjects were married, and the female’s death is being investigated as a homicide.  The male’s injuries are believed to be self-inflicted.

CPD is in the process of completing next-of-kin notifications, so identifications are not available at this time. 

There are no outstanding suspects.  Additional information will be released when appropriate.

On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, just before 6:30 p.m., the Chico Police Dispatch Center began receiving calls regarding a shooting that had just occurred in the 2700 block of White Ave. Officers arrived on scene and contacted a female victim and a male victim. Both were transported to a local hospital and are receiving emergency treatment. There are no suspects believed to be outstanding. Officers and Chico Police Detectives are continuing to investigate the shooting. More information will be released when it is appropriate.
