On 12/10/2020 at 5:52 am Chico Police Officers took a report of a
stolen vehicle in the 1500 block of Nord Ave. The victim reported
he started his vehicle in order to warm it up and let it run in
his driveway. The victim went back inside to say goodbye to his
wife. The victim then heard his truck start to move. He ran
outside and saw a suspect drive away in his vehicle. The victim
was able to provide a description of the suspect.
At 10:33am the victim’s wife was at Walmart at 2044 Forest Ave. She saw her husband’s stolen vehicle parked in the parking lot and notified the authorities. The victim’s husband also responded to the scene. While recovering the stolen vehicle the victim noticed a subject matching the suspect’s description in the parking lot. He was detained by officers. The suspect was positively identified by the victim as the one who stole his truck. The suspect was identified as, 33-year-old Chico resident, Harry Akerson. Akerson was in possession of the victim’s car keys and other stolen property. Akerson was also currently on parole. He was charged with the following:
10851 VC, Unlawful taking of a vehicle
496 PC, Possession of stolen property
12500 VC, Driving without a license
466 PC, Possession of burglary tools
