Brandishing/Criminal Threats Incident

On Wednesday, October 12th at about 4:45 p.m. Chico Police Dispatch Center began receiving calls regarding a male chasing and threatening pedestrians and vehicles while armed with a knife. Numerous officers arrived in the area and located the male, identified as Mr. Maurice Hill (53 years) on Citrus Ave immediately adjacent to Citrus Elementary School. The school was placed on lockdown while officers contacted Mr. Hill who was still armed with the knife.

Officers spoke with Mr. Hill in an effort to de-escalate the situation. Officers were able to gain voluntary compliance from Mr. Hill, who dropped the knife and was safely taken into custody. Mr. Hill was arrested and transported to jail on charges of 417 PC Brandishing a Weapon and 422 PC; Criminal Threats.

Citrus Elementary was locked down and Citrus Ave was closed between W. 4th Ave and W. 2nd Ave for less than 15 minutes.
