Bike Thieves Arrested

On 8/25/23, Chico Police received a call from a resident who stated they woke up this morning and discovered the two electric bikes stolen from their driveway. The bikes were locked to the rear of a vehicle. The resident had video surveillance that showed two men unknown to them took the bikes overnight without their permission. The resident had secreted a GPS location device on the bikes and provided their cell phone to the responding Officer who tracked the general location of the bikes. CPD Officers completed an area check and located both bikes, separately, in the possession of brothers Joshua and Michael Coley. Both Joshua and Michael were arrested for 487(a) PC-Grand theft, 594(a)(1) PC-Vandalism and 496 (a)-Possession of stolen property. Micheal is currently on parole and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Both Joshua and Michael were transported to Butte County Jail.
